Summary

Wiki is a web Tool of collaboration.

XWiki is an open source wiki written in Java and distributed under a license called LGPL. It provides both the main functions of a wiki and the possibilities of development.

TikiWiki is a powerful open source web application, used to manage content and share work on interfaces developed with PHP, and ADOdb Smarty. Tikiwiki integrates all the features used by a large number of wiki systems available to date. TikiWiki is an application which has a large amount of features, from simple to complex tools; each user can customize this application thanks to its features.

XWiki and TikiWiki cover different fields and have different features. It is not a question of a real preference for one of these two tools. We can say that XWiki is more "sophisticated" in the sense that it may include its own programs in the tool and therefore can be customized. TikiWiki is certainly easier to integrate, but also serves as a user-friendly resource and provides opportunities for very advanced administration.
